History/Folklore: Mullein leaves have long been used in medicine by the Native Americans. It was used as a tea, poultice, and a lot of the times a form of smoke. They would smoke it for respiratory ailments, phlegm, and asthma.
The Steam inhalation has been used to help with congestion.
In the Middle Ages, the dried stems and flowers were used to make fire and used as small torches.
Mullein is associated with St. Fiacre, the Irish Patron Saint of horticulture.
