History/Folklore: In Egypt the root was known as a "cure-all" and was even found in King Tuts Tomb (from 3,000 years ago). It was then later distributed to China, where it became a staple herb, only second to Ginseng.
Its name comes from old Greek and French word that translates to "sweet root".
