History/Folklore: This herb has a LONG history of use in Northern Africa and Sudan. Egyptians would drink this to cool their body down, and relax the nervous system. In Africa, the Hibiscus is a symbol used for the perfect wife/mother. It was brought to the Caribbean via slave trade, and acted as a reminder of home (Africa), and was a staple food and medicine that could be used, and was known widely by those from Africa.
In China, it is given to both men and women, and resembled the fleeting nature and beauty of fame and self glory.
It is the national flower of Malaysia and used as a hair dye, nail polish in India and is associated with their Goddess Devi where it is used in tantric practices.
