Eucalyptus Leaf- An Ye - Eucalyptus globulus - ORGANIC
Latin Name: Eucalytpus globulus
Harvested: Portugal
History/Folklore: It is believed that the Australian Aborigines were amongst the first people to discover the medicinal and nutritional (as well as spiritual) values of Eucalyptus. It makes up more than 3/4 the vegetation of Australia, and there are more than 500 species in total. During the 19th Century Eucalyptus was introduced to California as part of the Malaria-Control effort. It worked out great, as the Eucalyptus tree can store large amounts of water in their roots, and were highly suited for swampy areas where malaria was most common, due to the mosquito numbers. This helped to dry up some of the marshes, as well as combat malaria (via ridding mosquitos of their natural habitat).
