History/Folklore: Comfrey has been used in healing since around 400 BC. It is very well known for its healing properties, especially of broken skin and bone tissue repair. It is known as “knit bone herb” and “the knitter and healer”. Though traditionally it was used internally, for internal bleeding, blood in the urine or stools, this herb contains paralyzadine alkoloids, some of which have been known to cause Liver damage, and therefore should not be taken internally by untrained individuals.
